WHAT: Resources for Unemployment and Re-Employment Assistance during COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis

With this ongoing crisis that creates unemployment impact, CareerSource Central Florida is committed to serve career seekers, businesses and the communities it serves while navigating this unprecedented time through providing official and helpful resources, which are all accessible via its Coronavirus Support page on its website:

Employment Support / Re-Employment Assistance

Who are eligible?

• Those who are quarantined by a medical professional or a government agency,
• Those who are laid off or sent home without pay for an extended period by their employer due to COVID-19 concerns, or
• Those who are caring for an immediate family member who is diagnosed with COVID-19.

How to File?

• Reemployment Assistance claims are handled by the CONNECT system. You can file your claim by accessing CONNECT through floridajobs.org in the Reemployment Assistance Service Center in the right hand corner of the page.
• For people who need assistance filing a claim online because of legal reasons, computer illiteracy, language barriers, or disabilities may call1-800-681-8102.

For Career Seekers – If the COVID 19 Corona virus crisis have impacted your job through business closures, you might be eligible for partial unemployment benefits. You can file a claim to determine if you would be eligible, visit and explore Floridajobs.org. You may also call 1-800-204-2418 for support in filing unemployment.

For Employers or Faith Community based organizations – If the COVID 19 Corona virus crisis has impacted your businesses, the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) offers a Short Time Compensation (STC) Program. This program is a voluntary employer program designed to help employers maintain their staff by reducing the weekly working hours during temporary slowdowns instead of temporarily laying off employees. Short Time Compensation should be filed for before businesses conduct layoffs. Learn more about the program requirements by visiting and exploring Floridajobs.org.
