Central Florida’s Unemployment Rate Plunges To 2.7 Percent for September 2018

Orlando, FL – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 2.7 percent in September 2018. This rate was 0.9 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.6 percent. The region’s September 2018 unemployment rate was 0.3 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.0 percent. The labor force was 1,392,367, up 32,644 (+2.4) over the year. There were 37,883 unemployed residents in the region.

Central Florida’s Unemployment Rate Dips To 3.4 Percent for August 2018

Orlando, FL – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 3.4 percent in August 2018. This rate was 0.6 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 4.0 percent. The region’s August 2018 unemployment rate was 0.4 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.8 percent. The labor force was 1,378,589, up 40,017 (+3.0) over the year. There were 47,402 unemployed residents in the region.

Central Florida’s Unemployment Rate At 3.6 Percent for July 2018

Orlando, FL – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 3.6 percent in July 2018. This rate was 0.4 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 4.0 percent. The region’s July 2018 unemployment rate was 0.4 percentage point lower than the state rate of 4.0 percent. The labor force was 1,393,808, up 49,190 (+3.7) over the year. There were 50,547 unemployed residents in the region.

Orlando, Fla. – CareerSource Central Florida’s (CSCF) president and CEO Pamela J. Nabors has received the Personal Empowerment Corporate Award from the Central Florida Urban League. This award is presented to an organization that has positively influenced personal development, achievement, and opportunity for success in our community and was presented during the League’s Annual Awards Breakfast Ceremony at the Citrus Club in Orlando. Under Nabors’ leadership, CSCF successfully empowered more than 70,000 career seekers to elevate their skills and secure sustainable careers. Additionally, 4,700 businesses were transformed to include smarter talent development initiatives within the five-county region of Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Sumter counties across Central Florida during the last fiscal year.

CareerSource Central Florida President and CEO Selected as Mentor for Bizwomen Mentoring Monday Event

Orlando, Fla. – On Monday, February 25 the Orlando Business Journal will be hosting their sixth annual Bizwomen Mentoring Monday event. Among 40 of Central Florida’s most influential women, Pamela Nabors, president and CEO of CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) has been selected as a mentor-coach during this one-of-a-kind event. CSCF is the second largest workforce board in the state and during Nabors’ seven year tenure, she’s been instrumental in changing people’s lives, transforming businesses and creating more prosperity for the Central Florida community. Attending mentees will be provided a light continental breakfast and then given the opportunity to seek mentorship during this two-hour event. Registration will be open all the way up until the morning of Feb. 25.

Duke Energy Powers CareerSource Central Florida’s New Test Prep Initiative

Orlando, Fla. – CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) has received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from Duke Energy as part of the power company’s foundation to “build powerful communities.” The grant will be coupled with in-kind services provided by CSCF to create a free, two-week Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) test prep program. The Duke Energy Foundation awards over $30 million in charitable grants each year as part of its commitment to make strategic investments that build powerful communities where nature and wildlife thrive, students can excel, and a talented workforce drives economic prosperity for all.
