Central Florida’s Unemployment Rate at 2.8% for September 2019, 0.2 Percentage Point Lower than the State

Orlando, Fla., October 25, 2019 – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 2.8% in September 2019. This rate was 0.3 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.1%. The region’s September 2019 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3%. The labor force was 1,430,792, up 49,483 (+3.6) over the year. There were 39,963 unemployed residents in the region.
Governor Ron DeSantis Awards CareerSource Central Florida with $39,000 Veterans Performance Incentive Award

Orlando, Fla., October 14, 2019 – CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) has been honored by Governor Ron DeSantis with the Veterans Performance Incentive Award for its exemplary work providing training and employment opportunities to thousands of veterans across the region — granting $39,000 to further enhance its priority services of individualized career coaching, advance skills training, and job placement activities to help veterans transition from military service to a civilian career. As the second largest workforce board in Florida, CSCF served nearly 3,000 veterans last fiscal year with talent solutions such as career workshops, educational resources, certifications and/or specialized training aimed at helping veterans achieve their career goals or improve their credentials.

Orlando, Fla., September 23, 2019 – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 3.3% in August 2019. This rate was 0.1 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.4%. The region’s August 2019 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.5%. The labor force was 1,424,115, up 53,773 (+3.9) over the year. There were 46,463 unemployed residents in the region.

More than 850 Young Adults between Ages 16-24 Complete Careersource Central Florida’s Summer Youth Program, Nearly Double the Participant Rate Year-Over-Year

Orlando, Fla., September 19, 2019 – Aimed to build bright futures for the leaders of tomorrow with unique opportunities to explore colleges, exposure to growing industries and mentorships with highly qualified professionals, CareerSource Central Florida’s (CSCF) Summer Youth Program served nearly 900 young adults this year – almost double the participation rate from the previous year. More than 200 businesses across CSCF’s five-county region partnered with the talent solutions agency to host hundreds of internships and provide invaluable work experience. By the end of the summer, nearly $1.4 million dollars in earned wages was generated and more than 70 participants were offered permanent positions.

This rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.5 percent. The region’s July 2019 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.5 percent. The labor force was 1,419,960, up 35,643 (+2.6) over the year. There were 46,263 unemployed residents in the region.
