Central Florida’s Unemployment Rate Rise to 3 Percent for December 2018

Orlando, Fla. – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 3.7 percent in January 2019. This rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.9 percent. The region’s January 2019 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.9 percent. The labor force was 1,381,244, up 44,461 (+3.3) over the year. There were 50,778 unemployed residents in the region.

Orlando, Fla. – CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) has partnered with the Florida High Tech Corridor (The Corridor) for an annual talent forum that brings together representatives from the region’s high tech industry and K-12 school systems with state college and university career services professionals. Businesses and organizations have the opportunity to strengthen the relationships with over 50 state college and university contacts who work directly with students preparing to graduate from top STEM degree programs. CSCF has worked closely with The Corridor to provide access to its network of Central Florida businesses and helped to recruit sponsorships for the event. During this two-day forum, a platform is provided for open discussion of local talent needs, advanced recruiting strategies and systems to increase job opportunities. The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Orlando on March 27-29, 2019.

This rate was 0.7 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.5 percent. The region’s November 2018 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.0 percent. The labor force was 1,390,139, up 50,048 (+3.7) over the year. There were 38,338 unemployed residents in the region.

Orlando, FL – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 2.7 percent in October 2018. This rate was 0.8 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.5 percent. The region’s October 2018 unemployment rate was 0.3 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.0 percent. The labor force was 1,388,477, up 45,298 (+3.4) over the year. There were 38,166 unemployed residents in the region.
