Orlando, Fla., July 19, 2019 – CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) today announced its new location at Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) in a grand opening ceremony with community leaders, government officials and business partners throughout both counties. This first-ever college-based CSCF career center aligns an educational institution with the local workforce board to connect career seekers – particularly those students or alumni who may be working towards an associate degree or advanced skills training – and businesses to deliver qualified talent.

Orlando, Fla. – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 2.9 percent in May 2019. This rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.1 percent. The region’s May 2019 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.1 percent. The labor force was 1,391,142, up 24,763 (+1.8) over the year. There were 40,028 unemployed residents in the region.

Orlando, Fla. – The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 2.7 percent in April 2019. This rate was 0.5 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.2 percent. The region’s April 2019 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 2.9 percent. The labor force was 1,375,530, up 21,724 (+1.6) over the year. There were 37,673 unemployed residents in the region.

This rate was 0.3 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.4 percent. The region’s March 2019 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.3 percent. The labor force was 1,386,439, up 29,331 (+2.2) over the year. There were 42,287 unemployed residents in the region.

This rate was 0.4 percentage point lower than the region’s year ago rate of 3.6 percent. The region’s February 2019 unemployment rate was 0.2 percentage point lower than the state rate of 3.4 percent. The labor force was 1,391,110, up 39,538 (+2.9) over the year. There were 44,799 unemployed residents in the region.
