Central Florida’s Unemployment Rate At 8.0% for October 2020, 1.5 Percentage Point Higher than the State

Orlando, Fla.,– The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 8.0% in October 2020, which was higher than the state’s rate of 6.5%. This rate was 5.2 percentage point higher than the region’s rate of 2.8% during the same timeframe last year. The labor force was 1,348,162 down 64,835 (-4.6) over the year. There were 107,633 unemployed residents in the region.

Orange County Residents Impacted by COVID-19 Can Receive Limited-Time-Only, High-Demand Skills Training at No Cost Plus a Weekly Stipend through CareerSource Central Florida’s Help is Here Program

Orlando, Fla., — Florida’s second largest regional workforce board continues its commitment to assist Orange County residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through CareerSource Central Florida’s (CSCF) Help is Here program. The organization has received additional financial support from Orange County Government to provide complimentary scholarships for skills training plus a $125 weekly stipend. Qualified residents must be enrolled in the limited-time-only Accelerated Skills Training programs offered by Valencia College at the Orange County Convention Center and apply now through Dec. 31, 2020 to receive the weekly stipend and career services.

More Than 30 Companies Hiring at a "Paycheck for Patriots" Virtual Fair for Veterans Only

CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) will host a special virtual hiring event dedicated to Central Florida veterans. “Paychecks for Patriots” connects members of Florida’s military and veteran community with career opportunities across various industries. Participating companies include AutoNation, Florida Department of Education, Fifth Third Bank and more. Residents of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Sumter countries are eligible to register for CSCF’s virtual job fairs.

Central Florida’s Unemployment Rate At 9.7% for September 2020, 2.1 Percentage Point Higher than the State

Orlando, Fla.,– The unemployment rate in the CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) region (Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter counties) was 9.7% in September 2020, which was higher than the state’s rate of 7.6%. This rate was 6.9 percentage point higher than the region’s rate of 2.8% during the same timeframe last year. The labor force was 1,360,911 down 53,556 (-3.8) over the year. There were 132,179 unemployed residents in the region.

CareerSource Central Florida Hosts Virtual Healthcare Job Fairs to Fill More than 100 Open Positions

CareerSource Central Florida (CSCF) will host two free virtual Healthcare Job Fairs for Central Florida residents seeking entry-level careers in the healthcare industry that don’t require a medical license or certification, and for licensed or certified healthcare professionals seeking open clinical positions. Residents of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Sumter countries are eligible to register for CSCF’s virtual job fairs.
